Tom Hanks Returns to Broadway 2027

Tom Hanks is back on Broadway after a 14-year break, starring in his own play, "This World of Tomorrow." The limited run will open in fall 2027 at a Shubert theater, though the exact venue and dates remain unannounced. Hanks and Kelli O'Hara, who both earned Tony nods, reprise their roles from the 2025 Off-Broadway run at The Shed. The play is a time-travel romance. It follows Bert Allenberry who jumps back to the 1939 World's Fair to find love that could shape his future. Hanks co-written the script with James Glossman, adapting short stories from his book Uncommon Type. Directed by Kenny Leon, known for reviving classics like Othello and The Balusters, the production promises stellar chemistry. Brian Moreland, producer in association with The Shed, says the play reminds us love transcends time.
