Canva Launches Craft AI Model for All Users
October 22, 2026 · 1 source
Canva just let anyone generate a 2K image with custom text in seconds, using its own AI model. The model, called Canva Craft, works in two stages to plan layout and then render the picture. First it parses the prompt and maps spatial relationships, scale and hierarchy, even the text details. Second it creates an image up to 2K resolution in any of thirty aspect ratios. Because Canva trained the AI on its own template library, the output keeps design accuracy and legible typography. Users can now edit a single element without disturbing the rest of the composition. The tool is live for all users in the Dream Lab tab and via the Canva API. The research team included engineers from Leonardo.ai, which Canva bought in 2024. Two faster, cheaper versions-Craftfast and Craft-ultrafast-are slated for release later this year. Canva reported about four billion dollars in revenue last year. It then cut its 2026 growth outlook, dropping valuation from forty-two to thirty-five billion dollars.
