Biograph Finds 42.9% Coronary Inflammation

October 22, 2026 · 1 source

Biograph's new AI study shows 42.9% of low-risk adults have hidden coronary inflammation, a finding that could rewrite heart-disease screening. The study, run by Biograph and Caristo Diagnostics, used the CaRi-Heart® AI on high-resolution coronary CT scans. It found 42.9% of asymptomatic participants had elevated inflammation, with 17.9% showing very high levels in a major artery. Nearly half-47%-of those without plaque still had inflammation, a risk invisible to routine blood tests. Standard markers like ApoB, LDL-C, HbA1c, hs-CRP and the AHA-PREVENT-ASCVD calculator failed to flag these cases. CaRi-Heart, the first FDA De Novo tool to quantify coronary inflammation, could open a window for earlier intervention. Biograph's mission is to give each member a clearer view of long-term heart risk before symptoms arise. The study's preprint is available to Biograph Black tier members and may spark a new era of proactive heart care.
