1Password Launches AI Login Tool

October 22, 2026 · 1 source

1Password just let AI log in without seeing your password. On Thursday, 1Password rolled out 1Password for Agents. The new tool lets digital assistants sign in on a user's behalf while keeping credentials locked. When an agent tries to log in, 1Password generates a unique digital key that confirms the agent's identity. The user then receives a prompt and can approve or deny the request. Once approved, 1Password signs in the agent, filling in the credentials without ever revealing them. Users can pick from Claude Duet, OpenAI's Dots, ChatGPT Work, Grok Bot, Meta's Muse, or Town's assistant. The move comes as U.S. banks report rising agentic activity inside user accounts, a trend that many find alarming. Bankers say they cannot distinguish user-initiated requests from rogue agents, describing the situation as 'horrifying'. A Chase spokesperson warned customers never give their usernames or passwords to anyone.
