Carrick Stays On for Pivotal Bournemouth Match

United are heading into Sunday's Bournemouth clash with a seven-game winless streak after a 4-1 loss to Como. The result has revived doubts about Michael Carrick's future. Those doubts had eased after recent draws with Atletico Madrid and Leeds United. Inside Old Trafford, Lisandro Martínez has openly said the squad isn't strong enough to compete at the top level. He blamed the club hierarchy, not Carrick, for the shortfall. Despite the criticism, the board believes the current roster is stronger than last season's when Carrick delivered a third-place finish. Yet sources say discussions with other managerial candidates, first explored in January, have not been formally closed. Bruno Fernandes will keep the captaincy and faces no club discipline for his post-match outburst. Former players, including Jamie Carragher, have called Fernandes an "absolute disgrace," adding to the pressure. Carrick answered the criticism in the press conference with a simple line. He said, "If you don't run back, you ain't going to win."
