Stellantis Cuts Car Software Building Time From Four Years To 24 Months Using AI
November 1, 2026 · 1 source
Stellantis engineers built a hands-free Jeep system in just six weeks using artificial intelligence tools. That kind of project used to take up to eighteen months. The carmaker wants that speed to shrink its cockpit software development time from four years down to twenty-four months. They are rolling out the new systems in two models by twenty-twenty-seven. Meanwhile, the company faces deep financial pressure after taking a twenty-six point five billion dollar write-down in February. Their stock is down nearly sixty percent year-to-date. Software managers are even telling employees that making themselves redundant is the best career move. But engineers still have to check every line of the machine work themselves.
