Nexus Mods Mandates AI Disclosure Without Total Ban
November 4, 2026 · 1 source
Nexus Mods is officially requiring creators to disclose all artificial intelligence use in their game mods. The new site owner, Victor Folmann, rejected an outright ban after community discussions. He noted that AI tools are now used throughout the entire creative process. A total ban would only hide the tools instead of removing them from modding. The site will now feature prominent AI tags right next to any adult content labels. Creators must also meet strict new rules for transparency and permissions. Default settings will now require users to ask before using existing mods for AI training. Anyone can also change their personal search settings to block AI-generated mods completely. The platform is giving creators a sixty-day grace period to update their submission pages. Folmann admits some people will still try to exploit the new system. Clear moderation standards and real consequences will be enforced for anyone breaking the rules.
