LIV Golf to Wind Down After Backers Withdraw

November 5, 2026 · 1 source

LIV Golf is shutting down for good after investors pulled their money. The league hoped to secure three hundred million dollars in new financing from BC Partners Credit. That deal fell through because the proposed LIV two point zero failed to attract enough players. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund had already pulled its backing back in April. That led to the league filing for bankruptcy protection in September. Organizers tried to put together a new version with about thirty players and major winners on board. Lee Westwood admitted on Tuesday that nothing presented to him was agreeable yet. The Public Investment Fund is expected to make the official announcement at a court hearing on Thursday.
