King Charles's Former Horse Point of Law Wins Melbourne Cup
November 3, 2026 · 2 sources
A horse recently sold by King Charles just won the Melbourne Cup on only its sixth career start. Ethan Brown rode Point of Law from the middle of the pack to take the glory on Tuesday. Royal Supremacy had raced more than a dozen lengths ahead before Brown made his move in the final stretch. Ciaron Maher became the very first trainer to saddle the top three finishers in the historic race. Maher actually had a record seven horses in the cup, including Zahrann and Juja Kibo. The winning horse was bought from the King earlier this year for an undisclosed sum. A group of investors that includes former AFL player Chris Judd and his wife Bec now own the three-year-old. The big day also featured a massive pre-race performance by Robbie Williams at Flemington. Meanwhile, trainer Chris Waller was fined fifty thousand dollars after a staff member mistakenly gave a race-day medication to another horse named Asterix.
