BCG Estimates Two Point Six Trillion Dollar AI Build Out

November 3, 2026 · 1 source

By two thousand thirty, the global artificial intelligence ecosystem will need two point six trillion dollars in annual end-market spending. Corporate enterprises will shoulder eighteen hundred billion dollars of that total. To hit that mark, companies must shift eight hundred fifty-seven billion dollars from existing technology budgets. They also need to add nearly a trillion dollars in fresh spending. That pushes enterprise tech budgets thirteen percent higher than standard forecasts. Clark O'Niell at BCG warns that each gigawatt of data center capacity coming online in twenty twenty-six must generate fifteen billion dollars just to cover costs. Despite heavy cash funding by hyperscalers, the math leaves little room for weak demand. O'Niell advises corporate buyers to avoid long-term token commitments while prices keep falling. He notes the target is achievable, but warns that the massive spend is far from guaranteed.
