Binance Users Pull $3.6bn After Record Hack
November 2, 2026 · 1 source
Binance users ripped out $3.6 billion in just two days after the biggest crypto hack ever. The breach, reported on Sunday, hit Binance.com and stole about $6.3 billion in digital assets. U.S. FBI officials have blamed North Korea for orchestrating the attack, calling it the largest ever. An initial spike in withdrawals later eased, and Binance said activity is now stabilising as expected. Withdrawals of Bitcoin and Ethereum have resumed, with other services set to return in phases after security checks. Binance's US-facing platform reported no impact from the breach. Early investigations point to a compromised engineer laptop that let hackers forge unauthorized transactions. The exchange says it has already covered roughly 95 percent of the stolen assets. The remaining amount may take longer to source. Binance holds over $160 billion in assets overall, so the withdrawn $3.6 billion is only a fraction. Binance has repeatedly said it would cover all of the losses linked to the attack.
