Amazon Adds Cost Control Playbook and AgentCore Runtime

October 30, 2026 · 2 sources

Amazon just expanded its Bedrock ecosystem by pairing a five-step FinOps cost management playbook with the AgentCore runtime. The part nobody is talking about is how agentic workflows make billing tricky because a single coding task triggers many model invocations rather than just one user turn. To fix lost attribution from shared IAM roles, teams can use per-user session management that caches credentials for up to an hour. Meanwhile, the new AgentCore runtime runs each agent session inside an isolated microVM. With Session endpoints, developers get an authenticated URL to watch live web apps update in real time as the agent edits files. The system allows between one and five allowed ports ranging from 8000 to 12000, excluding reserved platform ports. Requests use Signature Version 4 authentication, and the runtime handles protocols including HTTP 1.1, HTTP 2, WebSockets, and gRPC.
