Spotify Launches AI Remix Tool for Creators
October 22, 2026 · 1 source
Spotify's new AI remix tool lets fans remix their favorite songs-if the artists say yes. The service partners with Paris-based Believe, Universal Music Group, Merlin and Kobalt, and will launch after artists grant consent. Spotify's co-CEOs say the tool's three-C model-consent, credit and compensation-will create a new royalty pool for creators. Customers can pay for the add-on, and Spotify claims it will generate fresh revenue for the industry. Last quarter, Spotify added 6 million new premium subscribers-316 million total-while paying $70 billion to rights holders over 20 years. Meanwhile, Spotify removed over 50 million songs from recommendations and an extra 75 million tracks since tightening AI policies in September 2025. "We're the right company to do this," co-CEO Gustav Söderström said, citing Spotify's status as the biggest royalty pool.
