Oura Sues Ultrahuman Over Smart-Ring Patents

October 23, 2026 · 1 source

Oura sued Ultrahuman again, demanding it halt U.S. sales of the Ring Pro. The case follows a February launch and a March customs ruling. That ruling cleared Ultrahuman's redesigned ring after an earlier import ban. Oura claims the Ring Pro infringes two patents, D804,471 and 12,769,363, covering design, battery and sensors. Patent 12,769,363 was issued just two days before the lawsuit, on October 20. Oura also names Texas manufacturer SVTronics, claiming it makes the ring under Ultrahuman's control. Ultrahuman raised $70 million in September, valuing it at about $365 million. Oura's move comes after shelving a $2.2 billion IPO amid market uncertainty. The lawsuit underscores a broader battle, with Oura suing Samsung, RingConn and others. Industry analysts see smart-ring shipments rising 12.8% this year to 4.9 million units. Oura's latest patent claim could reshape competition as the market edges toward 6.3 million units by 2030.
