Berget AI Reveals 8.5× CO₂ Gap
A single AI request in Texas emits 8.5 times more CO₂ than in Sweden. Berget AI's open-source calculator shows 0.4 grams in Sweden, 3.2 grams in Texas. The tool, built with SEI, WattTime, and Klimatkollen, tracks emissions per request. Customers can see their carbon use live, and compare providers. CEO Andreas Lundmark says buyers would choose greener options if numbers were visible. The method includes hardware manufacturing and will add marginal grid estimates next month. The tool was launched on 21 October 2026. It's the first inference provider to publish per-request data and offers an MIT-licensed GitHub repo. By 2030, data-centre electricity could double, making transparent calculations like this crucial.
