Nexus Mods Sets January Deadline For Mandatory AI Content Disclosures
November 4, 2026 · 1 source
Nexus Mods just banned outright bans on AI content and went with mandatory disclosures instead. Victor Folmann owns the site, and he says hiding the tech only pushes it underground. Modders uploading new projects must now tick a box. They can choose AI-generated, AI-assisted, or free of the tech entirely. AI-assisted creators must also explain exactly how they used it in public. The site placed these new tags right after adult-content tags. The policy applies to every single mod on the platform, including older ones. Creators have a sixty-day grace period to update their existing work. That deadline ends on January second, twenty twenty-seven. Nexus also promised it will never use any mods to train AI itself. Authors can now set their default training permission to ask me. Folmann admits not everyone will follow these rules. Clear moderation standards and penalties are coming for anyone who breaks them.
