Novak Djokovic Misses ATP Finals After Paris Defeat

Novak Djokovic just missed out on the ATP Finals after losing to world number eighty-three Rinky Hijikata at the Paris Masters. The thirty-nine-year-old Serb fell two to six, six to three, six to three in the second round. That shock defeat ended his hopes of making the season-ending tournament in Turin. It marks only the second time in twenty seasons that a fit Djokovic has failed to qualify. He looked laboured on court and struggled physically as Hijikata raised his level. Djokovic admitted he lost control of the match and simply let it slip away. He now plans to take a long break to rest after a tough year.
