NASA Accelerates Artemis Schedule for 2028 Moon Landing
November 4, 2026 · 1 source
NASA plans to put Americans back on the lunar surface in twenty twenty-eight. Administrator Jared Isaacman announced the faster timeline on October twenty-third alongside plans for a twenty twenty-seven test flight. The agency wants to move with urgency as strategic competitors push for a permanent space presence. Artemis three will send four astronauts on a fourteen-day Earth orbit mission. That flight tests dockings with landers from both SpaceX and Blue Origin. And here is the catch. Artemis three hardware processing timelines have already been cut by about half. NASA even built a critical fuel-line part in-house in five months. That cost roughly a tenth of an outside vendor estimate. For the twenty twenty-eight landing, SpaceX and Blue Origin are both developing lunar systems. Axiom Space is also building a lighter Sortie suit that weighs half as much as the primary design.
