Lionsgate is teaming up with Mark Zuckerberg's tech company to convert the upcoming Thanksgiving blockbuster The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping into 3D. The Francis Lawrence directed prequel hits theaters on November twentieth and is expected to bring in sixty to seventy million dollars in North America. After its theatrical run, the movie will play on Meta VR glasses in 3D, debuting in the spring of 2027. This marks the first time Meta has partnered with a Hollywood studio to convert a movie into 3D. The visual effects studio DNEG completed the conversion work. The new Meta VR glasses weigh about one hundred grams and feature a five K infinite display with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos spatial audio. Additional Lionsgate features coming to the glasses will be announced later. Meanwhile, star Ben Wang is also in talks to play Iceman in Marvel Studios' new X Men movie slated for release on May fifth, 2028.
