FIFA Grants Council In-Person Access To Sell-Off Documents

Gianni Infantino will finally let his council see the secret documents behind his failed plan to sell off World Cup stakes. That comes after UEFA gave the global governing body a hard deadline to answer dozens of questions about governance and scandals. Mattias Grafström wrote to members saying they can view the paperwork in person at headquarters in Zurich. They must register within two weeks to see them under strict confidentiality rules. One outlet notes the deadline falls just two days before the cut-off for candidates to run in next year's presidential election. UEFA previously hit FIFA with an eight-page letter demanding answers on issues ranging from funding to a peace prize for Donald Trump. FIFA called the two-week turnaround unfeasible while citing pending US legal action from UEFA that could lead to a Swiss criminal complaint. FIFA has dismissed the pressure as harassment and denied any wrongdoing.
