Jon Rahm Walks Away From LIV Golf Over New Path
November 3, 2026 · 2 sources
Jon Rahm just walked away from LIV Golf because he hated the new direction of the league. Saudi Arabia pulled its backing in April after pouring over five billion dollars into the circuit. That massive funding loss pushed LIV to file for bankruptcy protection by September. The league secured three hundred million dollars in new financing to try and launch LIV 2.0. Rahm hated the changes and refused to follow that path. He gave up seventy five million dollars in leftover contract money to secure his exit in October. The thirty one year old Spaniard said the series drifted too far away from team golf. He also noted there were simply too many unknowns left on the table. Brooks Koepka managed to return to the PGA Tour after paying a five million dollar charitable penalty. The PGA Tour closed its returning member program in February. Rahm secured a deal with the DP World Tour in May to keep his Ryder Cup eligibility. He admits he doubts he gets the same return deal as Koepka.
