Intel Shifts Panther Lake Production to Data Center Chips
October 30, 2026 · 2 sources
Intel stock fell twenty-three percent in after-hours trading as CEO Lip-Bu Tan warned that the next few quarters will remain challenging for the personal computer market. A brutal memory and storage crisis is forcing the company to pivot some of its eighteen-A manufacturing capacity away from mobile client products and toward more lucrative data center chips instead. CFO David Zinsner confirmed that the budget-focused Wildcat Lake chips are currently sold out while seeing a seventy percent sequential increase in units, proving that buyers only want cheap hardware right now. And here is the twist. Intel is already looking ahead to January two thousand and twenty-seven for CES, where it plans to debut the new Nova Lake desktop lineup built on the eighteen-A-P node. Lip-Bu Tan claims design wins for Nova Lake will double those of Panther Lake at launch. David Zinsner added that these upcoming chips finally fill a long-standing hole in Intel's high-end desktop portfolio.
