Capcom Warns of Phishing Attack on Over 11 Million Accounts
Capcom's data breach on Oct. 19 exposed 11.7 million email addresses worldwide. That breach also revealed account creation times, last login details, and the IP used. Only 43 records included personal details like date of birth, gender, country, and nickname. And 196 accounts had their passwords changed by the attackers, but Capcom already reset them. The company said no user-made passwords or credit card data were leaked. Capcom warned fans that the exposed data could be used for phishing emails. They urged customers to avoid suspicious links or attachments if they receive odd messages. Capcom said it reported the incident to Osaka police and Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission. The studio confirmed it has identified the attack method and will strengthen its security framework. If new facts emerge, they'll update the public through their official website.
