Canelo Álvarez and Christian Mbilli Clash in Riyadh

Canelo Álvarez fights Christian Mbilli this Saturday at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. The thirty-six-year-old Mexican star enters the ring as a challenger for the first time since twenty twenty-two. He lost his undisputed championship to Terence Crawford thirteen months ago. Now he wants the WBC super-middleweight belt back. Unbeaten titleholder Christian Mbilli stands in his way. The twenty-nine-and-oh fighter promises to shock the world. The blockbuster bout streams on DAZN Pay-Per-View for seventy-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents. Main card action starts at two p.m. Eastern Time. Ring walks are expected around six p.m. Eastern Time. The event happens despite recent drone and missile attacks in Saudi Arabia. Other major events got cancelled or postponed. Yet the fighters arrived in Riyadh. The show goes on tonight. Jaime Munguía defends his WBA title against Nikita Zon in the final preliminary bout. Rafael Espinoza also defended his WBO featherweight title with a third-round TKO. One source notes that stoppage felt awfully premature.
