Anthropic Engineer Says Coding Interviews Dead
October 29, 2026 · 1 source
An Anthropic engineer just announced that AI has rendered the classic coding interview dead. He argues that a live LLM can run a candidate's program and score it instantly. That means the timed white-board puzzles companies love are no longer a reliable test. The part nobody is talking about is GitHub's recent boost of four million extra cores to keep AI services up. Those extra servers prove the hardware needed to evaluate code at scale already exists. The engineer says hiring teams can now replace a two-hour interview with a single AI-generated test. That could shave weeks off recruiting cycles and cut costs for tech firms. "Coding interviews are dead," he told reporters. He added that the shift will force schools to rethink how they teach problem solving.
