DDoSecrets Dumps 40,000 DHS Employee Records

October 29, 2026 · 1 source

Hackers just dumped the personal details of over forty thousand DHS workers online, complete with home addresses and phone numbers. The breach hit Wednesday, after the Department of Peace pointed to Rep. Markwayne Mullin's July 17 ICE comment. They say they slipped past DHS's single-sign-on system and lifted the files. They then handed the data to Distributed Denial of Secrets, which posted it in a searchable Icepick database. The dump includes more than 21,000 Customs and Border Protection staff. It also lists over 10,000 ICE and Homeland Security Investigations employees, about one-fifth of DHS's 220,000-person workforce. Journalist Ryan Ottignon and Swiss hacker maia arson crimew built the searchable site. DDoSecrets co-founder Emma Best called the leak "extraordinary but deceptive in its simplicity." DHS says it is aware of a potential breach and is moving quickly to protect the exposed personnel. Ottignon summed it up: "We need oversight for useful government, if it exists at all."
