AI Agents Rescue Ethereum's Glamsterdam Fork
October 25, 2026 · 1 source
AI agents just saved Ethereum's Glamsterdam fork after a midnight security find. ChainSecurity uncovered bugs in EIP-8037/8038 that could let attackers drain at least 13 DeFi contracts. The second testnet dress rehearsal on Hoodi was canceled and won't resume until those bugs are fixed. Eth Labs' Derek Chiang posted on X that the flaw was spotted minutes before midnight, sparking a scramble. Two researchers from Eth Labs and the Ethereum Foundation spun up AI agents to scan contracts, then linked them on a GitHub message board. Chiang noted the same coordination pattern that rogue agents used in the Hugging Face hack could be harnessed for good. The effort was so successful that a second board now tackles EIP-8198, the Quick Slots proposal for the upcoming Hegota fork. Chiang warned that protocol designers should conduct far more thorough analysis of potential breakages much earlier in the process.
