Ziffren Hails $10B AI Tax Credit Bill
November 6, 2026 · 1 source
Ken Ziffren says the AI-linked tax credit could unlock ten billion dollars for Hollywood this year. He made the claim after box office forecasts hit $10 billion domestically and $36 billion worldwide, the strongest since 2019. Ziffren praised the bipartisan Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act. The bill gives a credit to any film or TV project over $1 million. It also requires at least 75 percent of spending to occur in the United States. Post-production, visual effects and other qualifying costs qualify. News, live sports, talk shows, daytime dramas, social media, advertising and corporate videos are excluded. Ziffren said the act could add another ten billion dollars in production jobs and keep studios focused on tentpole releases. He noted bipartisan backing from Donald Trump to Sen. Adam Schiff as the lame-duck Congress wraps up the year. Ziffren added AI will slash post- and pre-production costs, but audiences still demand premium storytelling. He summed up with, "This legislation is needed by our industry."
