Nvidia RTX 5090s Hijacked for Chinese AI Servers
October 26, 2026 · 1 source
A leaked video from a Chinese factory shows hundreds, maybe thousands, of brand-new RTX 5090 cards ripped apart for AI servers. Meanwhile, U.S. gamers can't find a single RTX 5090 on the market, even though Nvidia says production is still running. The footage shows workers pulling off the three-fan coolers and heatsinks, then desoldering the GPU and VRAM from the PCB. They stack the bare boards and solder them onto a new dual-slot PCB designed for AI rack coolers. Once rebuilt, the cards are run through massive benchmark rigs to verify they can handle heavy AI workloads. Because these grey-market conversions are happening at such scale, consumer RTX 5090 inventory has all but vanished worldwide. In the U.S., the few remaining listings are from third-party sellers charging over eight thousand dollars each. The whole operation proves how AI server demand is turning 2026 into a nightmare for ordinary gamers.
