Danny Masterson Loses Conviction Appeal Over Scientology Evidence

Danny Masterson just failed to overturn his thirty-year prison sentence for raping two women at his Hollywood Hills home between two thousand one and two thousand three. A California appeals court rejected his claims on Tuesday that the trial judge showed bias by comparing Scientology to street gangs and white supremacists. The panel ruled that admitting evidence about the Church did not violate the First Amendment or a fair trial. Masterson also argued his former defense lawyer failed to present exculpatory evidence that the encounters were consensual. The court denied his habeas corpus petition alongside the appeal. Masterson's legal team now plans to take their fight to the California Supreme Court.
