Anthropic Sued Over 274 Elvis Songs

October 24, 2026 · 1 source

Anthropic is facing a lawsuit over using 274 Elvis Presley songs to train its AI models. The case, filed Friday October 23, accuses Anthropic of infringing 'Can't Help Falling in Love' and 'Don't Be Cruel'. Authentic Brands Group, which controls most of Elvis's intellectual property, led the lawsuit along with other rights holders. Lead attorney Richard Busch said the plaintiffs are "deeply protective" of the king's iconic songs. Anthropic, like other AI firms, claims its training process is covered by fair-use, but the legal debate continues. This lawsuit follows similar suits against Suno and other AI companies, with billions of dollars in damages at stake. If the court sides with the plaintiffs, it could force Anthropic to rethink its entire model-building strategy.
