Anthropic Spends $2.75M on Amodei Security
October 29, 2026 · 1 source
Anthropic spent $2.75 million protecting CEO Dario Amodei, more than four times his $654,167 salary. That $2.75M accounted for 15% of his $17.96M total 2025 compensation. Anthropic also paid $1.29M for his sister Daniela and $97,055 for his private-aircraft travel. In April, a man slipped into the lobby and warned a top exec would be killed. Later that month a fake job applicant posted threats against employees' children. In June, a customer with a pistol threatened to storm the office. Digital threats surged sevenfold from February to May 2026, according to Liferaft. Compared to Meta, whose CEO Zuckerberg costs about $22.5 million in security, Amodei's bill is modest. The company says the heightened attention on AI has increased both physical and informational security risks. That 15% of Amodei's total compensation reflects the growing danger for AI leaders.
