Amazon CEO Andy Jassy Slams Meta Muse Shopping AI

October 30, 2026 · 1 source

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told investors Thursday that outside shopping bots like Meta's new Muse assistant are still not great. He brushed off the threat during a quarterly earnings call. Just a month earlier, Amazon blocked Muse from accessing its online store. That move protects the ad revenue that drives Amazon's profits. Meta's assistant has already signed up major partners like Walmart and Shopify. Over ten million people set up Muse in the United States and Canada since its early September release. Mark Zuckerberg reported that shopping is the most common use case for the app. Average purchases top two hundred dollars. Jassy noted that outside agents did not cause Amazon's weaker advertising numbers in the third quarter. He also pointed out that four hundred million customers used Amazon's own Alexa shopping tool over the past year.
