NASA Juno Spacecraft Discovers Jupiter Shield Physics
October 29, 2026 · 2 sources
Jupiter has an invisible shield against the solar wind that is far more complex than Earth and could explain exploding stars. NASA data shows the planet uses plasma waves with multiple frequencies to heat and slow incoming solar particles. Earth only uses a single frequency. Before the main shock boundary, Jupiter also hits solar wind with smaller shock structures called shocklets. Meanwhile down on Earth, Jared Spiers transitioned from a contractor to a civil servant at NASA Stennis Space Center in June twenty twenty-six. Spiers graduated from Pearl River Community College in twenty seventeen and now works twelve-hour shifts preparing the B-one B-two test stand for Blue Origin rocket testing. His father Joey and brother-in-law Brock also hold technical roles at the agency. Spiers now spends his days running conduit and cabling to support missions helping put American astronauts back on the Moon.
