Laura Brand Testifies For Russell Brand At London Trial

Laura Brand told a London court her husband was a caring and attentive lover during the years he is accused of rape. Taking the stand on Thursday at Southwark Crown Court, she described the actor as a wonderful father who always respected her boundaries. The charges span a ten-year period from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand and nine. Laura first met the comedian in August two thousand and six after an Edinburgh gig and they started a relationship a month later. They broke up the following February after he cheated on her, but reconnected a decade later and married in twenty seventeen. Two of his former girlfriends also backed his character in statements read by defense lawyers, confirming he never acted without mutual consent. The prosecution pointed out that Laura was not dating him in two thousand and nine when one of the alleged rapes took place. Mr Justice Bennathan expects the jury to begin verdict deliberations on Tuesday, November third.
