Kid Cudi to Play Basquiat in 2027 Film

Kid Cudi will finally play Jean‑Michel Basquiat in a film he wrote and will direct, with shooting slated for 2027. He announced the project on Oct. 21, after years of fans asking him to portray the 80s icon. The 42‑year‑old says the movie is a love letter to Basquiat, the city, and the dreamers he inspires. He posted a first‑look photo in a suit and a rough wig, teasing the raw look that defined the artist. Cudi, who has already starred in “Happy Gilmore 2,” “House Party,” and the Netflix rom‑com “Entergalactic,” is also set to direct a horror film called “Doe” and star in “Wrong Number” with Barbie Ferreira. He’s turning a lifelong ambition into a debut directorial role.
