James Webb Space Telescope Captures Cat's Head Nebula
October 30, 2026 · 1 source
The James Webb Space Telescope beamed back a crisp mid-infrared view of the Cat's Head Nebula on October twenty-ninth, twenty twenty-six. That feline shape was carved by intense ultraviolet radiation and fierce winds from massive stars hanging out in the Carina Nebula. Stellar feedback keeps eroding the surrounding gas and dust right now. But denser material inside the feline pillar fights back and resists that erosion. For now, at least, the cosmic cat holds its ground against the stellar winds.
