INTER AND AC MILAN REVEAL €1.2BN GENERALI STADIUM
The new Generali Stadium will cost €1.2 billion and open for the 2031-32 season, replacing San Siro. Both Inter and AC Milan announced the 71,500-seat venue at a gala in Milan's Castello Sforzesco on Thursday. The design, by Norman Foster and stadium specialist David Manica, sits low in the middle and rises at each end. That shape puts every seat within a few metres of the pitch. It will feel like you're sitting on the grass. Fans rallied, chanting 'hands off San Siro'. Construction starts in 2028 after the clubs paid €197 million for the land and parking. The 71,500-seat arena will also host NFL games, rugby, concerts and could be a Euro 2032 venue. As stadium specialist David Manica put it, 'San Siro is a feeling.' He added they brought every seat as close as possible to the field.
