Gartner Says Open Models Handle Ninety Percent Of Agentic Work

Open-source models can handle ninety percent of agentic work at just a twentieth of the cost of a frontier large language model. That is according to a new report from Gartner. The catch is that companies are still spending massive sums elsewhere in the tech sector. Anthropic is looking at compute tabs that could top one trillion dollars as quarterly revenue approaches seventeen billion dollars. Meanwhile, Marvell just placed a one hundred fifteen billion dollar bet on a photonics leader to push optical networking. Nvidia became the world's most valuable company by making a six billion nine hundred million dollar bet on Mellanox.
